ORIGIN AND EVOLUTION OF SHRI SUBHA SIDDHI VINAYAKA MANDIR SOCIETY

Mayur Vihar with its new name came into existence in 1981, one of the DDA flats colonies in East Delhi. In the beginning, the colony was undeveloped and lacked in many basic amenities. By dint of perseverance and consistent hard work of its residents, the colony began to acquire facilities such as regular bus connectivity, potable water, DDA Markets, Milk booths, Schools for children etc, in a phased manner

It was felt that there was no proper space for conducting Bhajans, Pujas etc, for some of the devotees, for which they had to depend on other sources. It was at this point of time some daring intrepid devotees with foresight, started initiating action for the construction of a regular place of worship with Lord Ganesha, as the Principal deity. Thus this Ganesh mandir in East Delhi came into being. The Lord Ganesh was installed on 11/12th Nov’ 1989, Pkt – IV, Mayur Vihar, Phase-1. This Hindu temple in East Delhi started showing signs of promise from the very beginning, with the active and willing support of devotees from all sections of the society. Thus Shri Subha Siddhi Vinayaka Mandir Society was registered in June 1990. There was only one Sannadhi at that time for Lord Vinayaka. Pujas were performed regularly, inspite of initial teething troubles. In 1991, 2 more Sannadhis, one for Navagrahas and the other for Lord Hanuman were added. In 1997, in keeping with the general sentiments of the devotees, one more Sannadhi for Shiv Parivar was added to commence regular Pradosh-Kala Pujas for Lord Shiva.

In 1996, action was taken to construct a proper permanent Sannadhi for housing Lord Vinayaka, as the Principal deity. Thus the primary structure came into being, having First Floor and Vimanam (Panch-Dala) erected thereon.The Kumbhabishekam was performed in February 1997. In the same year, the temple was sanctified with the venerable presence of Great Spiritual Gurus Kanchi KamaKoti Peetam Sri Sri H H Jayendra Saraswaty Swami and Sri Sri H H Vijendra Saraswaty Swamy performed Abhishekam for the deity, by their own hands. After this, immediate action was taken to mobilise funds and construct further under the second phase. This phase included construction of basement, a modern kitchen, ground, 1st and 2nd floors on the right side of Lord Vinayaka's Sannadhi. In 2002, the construction was completed and in early 2003, on 14th February, Kumbhabhishekam was performed for Devi Lalithambika and Lord Hanuman. With this addition, number of devotees visiting the temple started swelling, making this Ganesh Temple in East Delhi as one of the very important landmarks. By now, the name and fame of the temple started spreading far and wide, throughout the areas of NCR such as Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurgaon etc.

In 2005, another important decision was taken to construct an exclusive Sannadhi for Lord Subrahmanya (Murugar) for which construction was commenced. Under this third phase, widespread changes such as development of frontage (facade) relocation of the stair-case to the opposite side, and proper relocation of Navagraha and Shiv Parivar. The Kumbhabishekam for these new sannadhis was performed on 6th July 2006. Every inch of space has been constructively and judiciously used for the benefit of the devotees and the temple. With the introduction of Metro Services and the opening of Mayur Vihar Metro Station, the popularity of the temple has grown by leaps and bounds with its Delhi Metro-connectivity to the rest of Delhi.

The last Kumbabishekam was conducted on 17th March 2019 by Brahmasri Yegnaratna Dikshitar in the benign presence of Sri Gnananandanatha Theertha Swamigal, disciple of Sri Sri Vimarshanandendra Saraswathy Swamigal and their team along with local vedic scholars.

Later on in the year 2024 it was conceived to construct Kutirs for the Pandits and Halls for community functions like Marriages , Upanaynam , religious functions, etc for the convenience of the devotees.
